Hi everyone,

Big news: We've announced this BlogHer 2011 Voices of the Year. If you hurry, you can still apply for the HTC Innovator Award. More below, along with our movie reviewer's question: Is the final Harry Potter summer flick okay for (little) kids?
Congratulations to the  BlogHer 2011 Voices of the Year! These 90 blog posts emerged from a whopping 1,000 entries as our anthology of some of the best writing and visual creative of the year.

You can read 75 posts here. The other 15? Waiting for their moment to be revealed on the big stage at BlogHer '11, when their creators read and display in front of 3,000 people in our annual Voices of the Year keynote. (Side note: While the keynote has been a favorite tradition of this community for years, HTC is our first ever sponsor of the event. Their team plans to present the HTC Innovator Award on Friday to a woman in our community. Today is the last day to  apply if you think you or another blogger you know should win this honor and the accompanying prizes. Thank you HTC for celebrating women's voices.)

Now, back to the Voices honorees. You already have made the BlogHer team both laugh and cry out out loud, especially me, She Who Does Not Cry, because I have the same thoughts every year around this time:

(1) Thank heaven for blog technology, and its work to shatter old media hierarchies, all too often based on who you know, where you went to school or where you live. I love the meritocracy of new media. More please!

(2) Waterproof mascara is a dang lie. Why am I such a sucker?

For those of you who haven't participated in this process before, here's how it works. Selecting these 90 posts for recognition requires the tender love and care of 13 angels judges who have been honored as community keynoters before, as well as the leadership of my co-founder Elisa Camahort Page and longtime BlogHer Eden Marriott Kennedy of Fussy.org,  who brought us the idea in the first place.

Like I said, you can read all the posts here. But I cannot resist sharing four faves of mine:

Jenna Hatfield: I Am Not a Unicorn

Enjoy!
Mischief Managed: Will you see Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2?
"It is is over," writes Karen Ballum, aka Sassymonkey. "It is done. I have seen Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2. I laughed. I cried. I cheered. And I have shut the door on the very last Harry Potter summer..." Karen's review is raw and includes a few spoilers for all two of you who haven't read the book. But perhaps her most important insider info has to do with the scenes of Voldem*rt's soul...
