| | | | | | | | | | | | | Hi there, glad to see you’re back with us this week! If you’ve just signed up, welcome! The Challenge starts in a couple weeks, but until then, every Thursday we’ll send you more cool, keep-‘em-busy projects and educational activities to do with the kids. In the meantime, here are some quick and easy ways to get your kids excited about books. | | | Now is the perfect time to get a jump on your kid’s summer reading list. Your child’s teacher may send home a list. It will be age-appropriate and coincide with next year’s curriculum. Talk to your child about the list – what is she excited to read? Once she has read her way through the list, plan an activity as a reward. Setting goals and celebrating achievements will help boost her reading confidence. If your child doesn’t have a reading list, find a quiet moment and create one together. Ask her what books or subjects she’s interested in, and suggest some of your fave childhood books. Plan fun activities to help the books come alive, like museum visits, or a mini-play to act out scenes from a story. For extra inspiration, tune into ARTHUR’s Author Week, on-air on PBS KIDS and online – with special literacy activities – at pbsparents.org/read.
