Each month there are actually only a few precious days when you can get pregnant. But fortunately you don't have to leave things completely up to fate. Your body sends out subtle little signals that now is the time, like changes in your basal body temperature and your cervical mucus. You just have to get "fertility aware" and learn how to spot the signs.

Take some time to clean out your medicine cabinet—and his, too. Certain prescription medications may interfere with your ability to conceive. So if you or your partner take meds for arthritis, asthma, lupus, digestive problems (like ulcers, colitis or acid reflux), seizures or depression; if you take medicines for high blood pressure or a thyroid condition; or if he takes beta blockers, talk to your doctor to see if your prescriptions need to change. The good news is that in many cases, the effects on your fertility are only temporary.
