Fill up by bulking up In a world of large portions, sometimes only a heaping plateful will do. When you feel this way, reach for broccoli slaw mix and some tofu shirataki noodles and have at it, says Lisa Lillien, chef and author of Hungry Girl: Recipes and Survival Strategies for Guilt-Free Eating in the Real World and star of the Cooking Channel show Hungry Girl. These dishes have just 25 and 40 calories per serving, so you can pile your plate or use them to bulk up other dishes without blowing your daily calorie count, she says. Bonus: They’re both nutritionally dense, which Lillien says helps satisfy your need to feed. “On any given day and at any given meal, you can find me adding a slew of one of these,” she says. “They’re awesome.” |
