You’ll also meet Angela and the whole Challenge community online, where you can chat about assignments and have your questions answered. In the meantime, try this together-time activity of the week!
| | | Thank a Top-Notch Teacher | |  May 3rd is National Teacher Day, so give your kids' writing skills a boost by helping them create customized thank-you notes for their favorite teacher, or anyone who fills a teaching role in their lives, whether a caregiver, coach or even a family friend.
First, find out what your preschooler likes best about his teacher. Does she read exciting stories and use silly character voices? Plan cool art projects? Once you’ve identified what makes your kid’s teacher special, have him design a card with drawings of those elements. If your kid can write, let him have at it! Otherwise, help him sound out the teacher’s name and show him what it looks like on paper. Flip through magazines and find each letter in the teacher's name, then cut them out and glue them to the card.
Your older kid probably has more than one teacher, so have her focus on one teacher she likes best. Encourage your kid to work independently (so the words are hers), but be on hand to help with spelling. Let her add her personality to the card and embellish it with stickers, sequins, glitter or her own artwork!
